1. For a large number of machines, we should choose water-cooled ones because they are more energy-efficient.
2. We should choose air-cooled chillers for a few machines and cold zones because their installation is more straightforward and they have a longer service lifetime.
3. For many devices, we should buy screw chillers because they have the best value for money of the three types of chillers. They have a higher coefficient of performance(COP) than ordinary water-cooled and air-cooled chillers.
The key is to consider your specific needs, including the number of machines, location, and energy-efficiency requirements, to determine the most suitable option for your injection molding process.

What's The Differences and Features of Industrial Chillers
Industrial chillers differ from HVAC chillers as they mainly serve industrial processes and equipment, with the ability to control outlet temperature more accurately up to±1°F to meet the requirement.
Yushine industrial chillers come in three types: air-cooled, water-cooled, and screw chillers.
So, how to choose air-cooled chillers and water-cooled chillers?
Air-cooled chillers offer flexible installation. They are well-suited for areas with extreme climates, water scarcity, or poor water quality. However, the controlled temperature will be influenced by ambient temperature, and it is not suitable for extremely high temperatures and may produce some noise.
As for water-cooled chillers, they need cooling towers and water systems. They have better energy efficiency, lower running costs, stable performance with less influence from ambient temperature, and are more suitable for large-scale industrial use, But with higher maintenance costs.
What Are Industrial Screw Chiller Used For?
Screw chillers have a larger cooling capacity compared with scroll chillers and are more suitable for high-power refrigeration environments.
They can provide custom low-temperature open systems, includ ing air-cooled and water-cooled screw chillers, mainly used in centralized water supply systems.
The minimum power can reach 30 hp, typically used in central air conditioning systems or large-scale industrial refrigeration. They are suitable for large-scale air conditioning needs in hotels, factories, hospitals, and environments requiring precise temperature and humidity control, such as optical instrument workshops, precision measurement facilities, textile production lines, and computer rooms.
Single and twin-screw designs are available and usually used in applications above 200 hp. Screw chillers include semi-hermetic and fully hermetic screw types, employing the corresponding compressors and matching refrigeration systems.
They offer advantages such as high energy efficiency, low noise, and convenient maintenance. However, they have disadvantages, such as relatively high prices and the need for regular maintenance and oil changes of the lubrication system.
Industrial Chiller Unit Parts
High-quality compressors are essential as the heart of the chiller. Yushine selects originally imported compressors from renowned brands such as Panasonic, Copeland, Danfoss, Bitzer, and Handbell. These compressors feature built-in safety protection, low noise, energy efficiency, and durability, extending the equipment’s lifespan.

1 to 6HP chiller models use Orank stainless steel pump heads, while 8HP and higher models employ Taiwan Yuanli pipeline pumps. These pumps deliver low-noise operation, leak-free performance, and maintenance-free reliability, ensuring efficient water circulation within the chiller system.

The Emerson expansion valve features a balanced orifice design, providing stable and precise control across a wide load range and a large evaporating temperature range. Each valve is equipped with a durable imported filter screen and an external superheat adjustment as standard.

Industrial Chiller Applications
Yushine Industrial chillers are widely used in various manufacturing industries to provide precisely temperature-controlled cooling water. Here are the specific applications of industrial chillers in different production workshops:

Why Choose Our Industrial Chiller?
Considerations When Buying a Industrial Chiller?
Refrigeration capacity is the most crucial parameter. Selecting a chiller with the proper refrigeration capacity according to actual application needs is necessary to avoid energy waste from oversized units or cooling capacity shortage from undersized ones.
Temperature control accuracy refers to the chiller’s ability to maintain the desired temperature precisely. High accuracy is essential for ensuring equipment operation and product quality stability, especially for processes requiring precise temperature control. The routine cooling range is 7-35°C, and below 0°C can be customized if necessary.
Consider the working conditions of the environment, including ambient temperature, humidity, pressure, and dust. These factors affect the performance and lifespan of plain chillers, so select an appropriate chiller according to the actual situation. For example, scroll or screw type, air-cooled or water-cooled.
In addition, different countries and regions have other refrigerants optional; plain chillers can be customized with additional refrigerants according to demands, such as R22, R410a, R407c, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions
Air-Cooled vs. Water-Cooled Chillers
Water-cooled chillers are commonly used in southern regions with warm climates and abundant water resources. In contrast, due to the harsh cold climate, water-cooling systems tend to freeze in the northern areas, so air-cooled chillers are more widely used there. Air-cooled chillers are also an option for smaller equipment in northern regions.
Air-cooled chillers are easy to use and only need power and water pipes connected. Their design life is 15 years(compared to 10 years for a water-cooled chiller), making them more durable.
To ensure the best performance and economy, the application environment, cooling requirements, energy efficiency, maintenance costs, and other factors should be considered.
When buying industrial chillers, consider total life cycle cost, IP rating, ambient temperature, noise level, motor fan type, the coolant used, internal piping materials, COP or EER, etc. The lifespan of industrial process chillers is typically between 10 and 25 years, depending on the size of the chiller, the mode of operation, and the maintenance performed. Proper maintenance can help optimize the chiller’s performance and extend its lifespan.
Our standard industrial chiller’s minimum temperature is 5°C. We can customize the chiller and add antifreeze if you require a lower temperature, such as -15°C, -20°C, etc..
As for the maximum temperature, we suggest 40°C. If you want a higher temperature, the water in the tank will be too hot, causing the copper pipes to expand and high-pressure alarms. So we suggest keeping below 40°C as the maximum temperature and customizing the minimum temperature.
Case Models

In the electroplating process, cooling the plating solution helps stabilize metal and non-metal molecules. By cooling the plating solution, industrial chillers enable metal molecules to adhere quickly and evenly to the surface of the plated object under a stable current. This improves the smoothness and density of the plating, shortens the electroplating cycle, and allows for the effective recovery of expensive chemicals.

Our industrial Air-cooled Chillers work in plastic extrusion, cooling molds for dimensional accuracy and surface quality, and providing consistent low-temperature water for product cooling in water troughs. Proper temperature control (10-25°C), accurate cooling capacity, and suitable evaporators (e.g., shell-and-tube) ensure efficient operation and improved production quality.

Our industrial chillers work in injection mold factories, cooling the molds, reducing the plastic solidification time, improving the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the products, and so on. These cases of S&A chillers being applied in the injection molding industry show the indispensable role of chillers in injection mold factories.
